We landed in Austria on a beautiful bluebird day and it felt as though the plane was almost skimming the mountainsides as it flew through the snowy peaks on our descent into Innsbruck Airport. On stepping off the plane, as a group of Londoners we were all immediately taken aback by the fresh mountain air and vast open space around us.
Our taxi took us through pine tree lined winding roads until we reached Severin*s – The Alpine Retreat. Severin*s is housed in a traditional Alpine chalet, made from reclaimed Tyrolean wood, located just two kilometres from the chocolate box ski resort of Lech. Inside is an oasis of warm hues, rich textures, raw materials and cosy, understated luxury – everything is in the detail.
Severin*s is made up of only nine luxurious suites and a four-bedroom uber luxury private residence, offering the peace and seclusion of a private chalet with all the perks of a luxury hotel. The suites all include a super king-size bed, open log fire, flat screen TV, surround sound speakers and more. French doors lead out onto a balcony with panoramic views of the mountain-scape.
Severin*s and Lech are a food and wine lover’s dream. During our stay, we enjoyed a private wine tasting in the hotel’s wine cellar and sampled a range of Austrian wines and canapes. The food at the hotel’s restaurant celebrates the best of fine Austrian cuisine through rich and unique flavours, such as Head Chef Kevin Szalai’s signature Deer & Moss dish.
For the skiers, Severin*s will organise a private transfer to the ski lifts from which you can explore the slopes, while non-skiers can take it slow and enjoy a dip in the pool and a leisurely breakfast which is served until 2pm – The Alpine Retreat Egg Royal with winter spinach, Périgord truffle and nut butter is not to be missed.
