From the moment you arrive at the 5* Zafiro Palace Andratx in Mallorca, you immediately feel relaxed and looked after. After a very welcome cold glass of Cava, I was led through the spacious well-tended grounds to my room, admiring the views of the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains on the way. With a gorgeously comfortable bed, private swimming pool, a sea view, a large terrace with sun loungers and a four-poster day bed, and a complimentary mini-bar, I would have been perfectly happy staying in my room the whole time, but there’s so much more to explore.

Water is a definite theme here – almost half of the rooms have a private swimming pool and there are an additional 5 pools set in the hotel grounds, all with luxurious single or double sun loungers. The main pool is huge and has a swim-up bar, and the Sky Pool (with amazing ocean views) and Oasis Pool (exclusively for adults) are both heated to a lovely warm temperature, which is perfect if you are staying in Spring or Autumn. There are also 2 indoor pools for both adults and children.

Zafiro means ‘sapphire’ in Spanish, and this certainly is a gem of a property. I recommend booking their All Inclusive Redefined package, which means that pretty much everything is included in the price. From private transfers from the airport to the hotel, all drinks and meals, the complimentary in-room mini bar, and even your own electric moped for half a day to explore the local area, you really feel like you are being treated like a VIP.

Dining is a real highlight at Zafiro Palace Andratx with 5 restaurants to choose from – Mare Nostrum where Mediterranean food is transformed into art, the Caliu Steakhouse for meat lovers, Tastes & Sushi which serves a fusion of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine, La Veranda with an Italian menu, and The Market, which has a delectable buffet at breakfast and dinner and a la carte lunch. In case you feel peckish in-between meals there are also two Fresh & Healthy Trucks next to the pools which serve light and delicious bites and drinks. Don’t forget to head to the Blue Lounge Bar for pre-dinner drinks – signature cocktails, brand name drinks and wine are all included.

If you are feeling energetic there’s a gym with amazing views, and daily activities such as yoga, Pilates and aqua gym classes as well as personal training sessions. Golfers will be in heaven here as the Andratx golf course wraps itself neatly around the hotel, so you can be on the course in a matter of minutes.

The chilled-out beach at Camp del Mar is just a 5 minute walk away. Take your toweI in the traditional Mallorcan ‘senalla’ basket which is provided throughout your stay, and dip your toes in the calm clear waters of the Mediterranean.
If you can tear yourself away from the hotel and the beach then Palma is just a 30 minute drive away, and is a lovely city to explore, with ancient buildings, a stunning cathedral, traditional tapas restaurants and great shops. You could take the traditional wooden train from Palma to Soller and discover this pretty town, famous for olive oil and oranges. Or drive slightly inland to visit one of the many vineyards and sample some delicious Mallorcan wine.
