Teams are always modulating and developing, and it’s part of our joy at Grifco to welcome new team members. With each one there’s a two-way flow of knowledge, learning and inspiration. For new joiners this includes understanding our processes, getting under the skin of each of our clients, and picking up our quirks and ways of doing things. We try not to lose sight, though, of the reality that we benefit from every new perspective and different ways of working. It’s a two-way street, always full of energy.
Five new joiners in the past six months have each brought experiences and insights that strengthen the way we do things. So what’s it been like for them?
Sophie Edwards
After studying Fashion and Textile design at the University of Portsmouth, I graduated in 2023 and spent a summer teaching dinghy sailing to children, and sailing around Europe with friends. I later gained an internship in Luxury PR at an agency in London, working across various sectors including travel, fashion, F&B and property.
My mishmash of credentials has given me various skills and experiences. From my degree I have learnt to be innovative, patient and have a creative eye – and this allows me to approach creative tasks from different angles. From my sailing days I have learnt that nothing is quite as challenging as keeping control of 16 nine-year-old children in the middle of the sea and that the best solution for any stressful situation is fresh air! I am also famous for my love of all things arts and crafts, with a particular passion for knitting, which has taught me to have a strong attention to detail.
I have now been with Grifco for 5 months, and I am loving working with such a great team of people with such a passion for travel – I can’t think of anywhere better to start my first official role in the industry. The friendly environment has made settling in so easy that my confidence has grown and I have enjoyed having opportunities to become really involved with clients, especially through events like a recent media dinner at The Glasshouse Hotel. This was such a fun relationship-builder with amazing Scottish media and a great chance to represent our client in a fun and interesting way. I am excited to further expand my horizons and visit some of the superb destinations we represent.

I joined Grifco six months ago as a Senior Account Executive with two and a half years experience in PR and marketing. Previously I worked in a boutique agency in Oxfordshire, looking after clients in travel, hospitality, sports, and professional services, giving me a wide understanding of clients across a range of sectors.
At Grifco I’m working with some exceptional clients in the UK, Europe and Asia. Highlights to date include: planning my first group press trip to Rhodes, extending my network of media contacts, supporting new business proposals, and securing exciting coverage for our clients. I’m loving the fast pace of London agency life, and working closely with my team and I’m looking forward to growing my career here with all our back and forth of knowledge and creativity.

I joined Grifco in January 2025 following two and a half years at a boutique luxury travel PR agency. There I was a Junior Account Manager with a range of UK and international luxury hotels and tour operators.. My passion for PR and luxury travel has developed throughout my time in the industry and I feel I’ve brought lots of key media contacts and new angles to my role here.
My strengths lie in writing releases, coming up with creative campaign ideas and managing relationships with media and clients. In my time at Grifco so far, I have already enjoyed planning an exciting hotel launch event for Casa Cook Madonna, organising three different group press trips which I’m really looking forward to hosting, and meeting key media.

I started at Grifco nearly two months ago as a Junior Account Executive. I studied Journalism and Communications at university (where I edited the University newspaper) and have experience in broadcast Journalism following a work placement at ITV News.
Before joining Grifco I travelled for 16 months around Asia, Australia and Central America whilst working in social media and content creation – working with hotels and tour operators to enhance my communication skills and creativity. This work also taught me how to think outside the box when it comes to trends and creative ideas: key skills that I bring to Grifco. It also reinforced my understanding and passion for brand storytelling. All in all, I’ve loved my first few weeks at Grifco and am really enjoying building relationships with clients and journalists, helping to organise press trips and visits and exploring creative ideas.

I’m the newest addition to the Grifco team, and joined in February as a Junior Account Executive. I graduated from Bristol University last year with a degree in Business Management that included a year in Australia on work placement as a Guest Service Agent for the Oxford House Sydney Paddington – a brand-new 56-room hotel that’s part of a fast-growing boutique hotel group. Later, I transferred to a new smaller 17-room hotel within the same group as Front Office Manager. In this position I coordinated daily operations, Housekeeping and the Food and Beverage teams – giving me valuable insight into the internal dynamics of a hotel.
Having worked in a new hotel through the process of soft opening through to officially opening its doors and beyond, I understand from an operational perspective the challenges that can arise, specifically when a building has been renovated. This also gave me the chance to assess influencer collaborations and partnership opportunities: great practice for my current role.
I’ve always been passionate about travel, and I’m excited to bring a fresh perspective from the client side and my degree to luxury travel PR at Grifco. Since joining, I’ve learned the importance of finding new ways to keep clients relevant, alongside the fundamentals of pitching and building media relationships. One of my biggest successes has been securing coverage for our client, OUTRIGGER, in Condé Nast Traveller online. I’m looking forward to ongoing development of my PR skills, and to taking on more responsibility, establishing myself as a valued member of the team.
