Throughout the first half of 2024, we at MMGY Grifco focused on developing our internal programme. Having always placed a large emphasis on PR development through successful internship and mentorship initiatives, this year we ventured into new ways to nurture our teams by exploring courses outside of the PR industry. This has ranged from wellness-centric sessions which were centred around mindfulness, management courses including expert advice on giving difficult feedback and recruitment, new ways to release inner creativity and how to apply philosophical principles to the workplace.
Managing Stress: Unleashing Productivity Amidst Chaos
In the fast-paced world of travel PR, stress can become an unwelcome companion if left unaddressed. We kicked off our training programme at the start of the year by delving into stress management techniques, offering our team tools to navigate high-pressure situations. Here we learnt not only how to prevent stress but how to support each other when the stakes are high – understanding the different ways people react to stress and how best to come together collaboratively to secure the strongest possible outcome for each other, as well as our clients. Following this, we continued Q1 with mindfulness sessions and time-management strategies – designed to equip our staff with the resilience needed to thrive in the dynamic landscape of the travel industry.
Giving Difficult Feedback: Fostering Growth through Constructive Criticism
Effective communication is, of course, the bedrock of any successful PR agency and in light of this – we began to focus our attention on the art of giving difficult feedback – and how this improves management and career progression. By emphasizing constructive criticism and fostering a culture of openness, we have been able to empower our team further to learn from mistakes, turning challenges into opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Leadership is all about inspiring collaborative synergy and we continued our training programme throughout the spring by exploring the nuances of management. We learnt more about how to understand and value different personality traits – whilst continuing to foster a culture of teamwork and shared responsibility that also considered mental wellbeing. Through interactive workshops, our team honed the skills needed to navigate the intricate dynamics of managing diverse personalities within the agency.
Thinking Creatively: Unleashing the Power of Imagination
In a field driven by creativity, our training programme took an exciting turn in Q2 this year by exploring unconventional approaches to innovative thinking and creative problem solving. Largely driven internally through inspiring leaders across the MMGY company, we were taken back to the very basics of why and how to think creatively – which has ultimately inspired stronger campaigns for our clients. Workshops included brainstorming sessions that encourage “out of the box” ideas to collaborative exercises that stimulate imagination alongside the critical importance of a clear brief and objectives.
Applying Philosophical Principles: Elevating Work Culture with Wisdom
In an era where mindfulness and holistic well-being are gaining prominence, our training programme ventured into applying philosophical principles to the workplace as we approached summer 2024. By drawing inspiration from timeless philosophies, our team explored ways to infuse wisdom into their daily tasks, promoting a balanced and harmonious work culture.
